With the changes to minimum motor efficiency performance levels stipulated in AS1359.2004, SEW-EURODRIVE offers innovative high energy-efficient 4 pole motors. Unlike conventional AC motors with aluminum die-cast rotor, they use a copper die-cast rotor with a high conductance and lower losses.

Not only do the new energy-efficient motors significantly reduce the heat losses in the rotor, but they also limit additional losses, raising the efficiency level of the motor. With the copper rotor technology the motor frame size for the power is kept the same, except for 0.75kW, and there is also the advantage of improved control characteristics when used with frequency inverters due to a stiffer speed-torque characteristic curve.

Similar to the standard motors, the DTE and DVE motors can be combined with all gear units from the proven SEW-EURODRIVE modular system that are matching and suitable with respect to power and torque while maintaining power and size to form gearmotors. Naturally, the energy-efficient motors and gearmotors can be supplied in all mounting positions and design types and with all options known from the standard series.
